«In the name of God»

«In the name of God» is the name of Iranian art exhibition which will be open on 1 February 2012 in the National Gallery of Armenia. This exhibition is organized by the Cultural Center of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia and is dedicated to the 33th anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

The exhibition displays items of decoration and modern handicrafts made by Iranian ancient technologies and traditions: vases and trays, clocks, painted dishes, samples of ancient weaving, books, props for the Koran as well as the Koran itself illustrated with various examples of ancient Persian calligraphy.

The pictures of Iranian contemporary artist Ali Mohammad Sheikh take a special place in this exhibition. Ali Mohammad is born in 1954. Being a graduate from the Tehran Academy of Arts, Ali Mohammad was the director of the House of Culture after Ayatollah Taleghani from 1992 to 1988. Currently, he teaches graphics and design and is a permanent member of jury in competitive festivals, which take place in the country. Ali Mohammad has participated in numerous exhibitions and is a winner of prestigious awards and prizes.

The masterpieces of Ali Mohammad mostly reflect national traditions of Persian miniatures, typical Eastern mysticism and spirituality.  He does not set any specific mode, but creates a fantastic world giving an eternal and cosmic sense to material objects. He displays his spiritual world to the viewer through colors and its combinations, through the rhythm and lines of his compositions.
