EDMAN O'AIVAZIAN “COLOURS OF THE HOMELAND ”

Exhibition dedicated to the creative activity of our compatriot born in Iran (1932) Edman Aivazian opens on November 20, 16:00 at the National Gallery of Armenia. The exhibition is of great interest for Armenian viewers. It displays the master’s artworks which unite traditions of Armenian, Oriental and European culture.E. Aivazian attained his professional education in Rome, he further developed and perfected his skills in London where he lives presently. The artist has a wide scope of artistic interests; his creative ideas are expressed in various spheres of art including painting, graphic art, architecture and design. He has made the interior designs for Armenian churches and public and sacral buildings in Europe, Near East and Iran. His artworks include the subject of heroic epos “David of Sasoun”, illustrations of H. Tumanian’s works and pictorial landscapes of Iran. The artist works in the genre of portraiture as well, and is renowned as a great marine painter.
The following exhibition is more comprehensive and large-scale as compared with the exhibition of Aivazian’s works opened in 1987 in Yerevan. The latter included works mostly on Armenian theme, as well as easel and graphic works created in 1960-1980.
Today, nearly thirty years later, the NGA’s exhibition displays architectural and design projects as well as landscapes made in the last 10-15 years. Viewers can follow the creative development of the artist and have an opportunity to evaluate the achievements and originality, as well as the individuality and talent of Edman Aivazian
