The collections of Russian and European sculpture in the NGA don’t have the whole and complete image which’d allow one to trace the phases of development of this trade of art anyway here are represented separate high valued works of famous masters of different centuries.
These are the bust of Katherine II by E.Shubin, the busts of the representatives of famous Lazarian family by Q.Martos. The first work of Gordeev after graduation from the Academy of Arts in Petersburg amarble composition Prometheus.
The XIX century Russian sculpture is represented by the works of renounced Russian artists M.Antakolsky the figure of Peter I, E.Lanceray’s two bronze statuettes, where one can trance the artistic peculiareties of the master’s work.
Masters of sculpture such as A.Golubkina, D.Stellesky, S.Konenkov represent the XX century, and the works by these artists are notable for their high skill creation and are consonant with the time.
The two majolica works by M.Vrubel are of special importance for they were not multiplied like other majolica works of the artist and thus are singular.
The soviet period of Russian sculpture is represented by the works of I.Shadr, S.Lebedeva, M.Manizer etc. The exposition is crowned with the works of R.Pantsekhovskaya, E.Neizvestny, O.Komov representing the Russian sculpture of 1960-1970 ies.
