Arshile Gorky: New York – Yerevan. New Acquisition
The National Gallery of Armenia cordially invites everyone on April 30 at 18:30 to the official presentation of Arshile Gorky's work and a special tour of the exhibition "Arshile Gorky: New York – Yerevan. New Acquisition."
For the first time, the Government of the Republic of Armenia has acquired a work by the world-renowned Armenian-American artist Arshile Gorky (Vostanik Adoyan) from the prestigious Sotheby’s auction and entrusted it to the National Gallery. This "Untitled" (c. 1944) piece is the first and only color work by Gorky in Armenia’s museums. Created in the mid-1940s, it reveals the master's genius through his unique color solutions and distinctive forms.
The work is presented in an expanded exhibition format. For the first time, Arshile Gorky’s art is displayed alongside other Armenian and Diaspora artists influenced by his legacy, highlighting the deep connections between Gorky and the trajectory of Armenian art. The evening's tour will also feature a virtual reality (VR) experience, presenting the stages of the master’s artistic evolution in a three-dimensional space.
This cultural celebration will be complemented by a presentation of designer clothing and accessories inspired by Gorky’s palette, as well as live musical performances.
