How do “silent” artworks reveal their hidden identities and stories? This new exhibition presents remarkable discoveries from the National Gallery of Armenia’s collection — the result of extensive research, restoration, and re-attribution efforts from the last few years.

With more than 40,000 artworks and 200,000 archival materials, the Gallery continues to uncover the secrets of objects that entered its holdings during the hundred years of its existence. Thanks to new digital tools and focused scholarly work, more than thirty artworks have been newly authenticated, including previously unknown pieces by Yeghishe Tadevossian, Martiros Sarian, Gohar Fermanyan, Hakob Gyurjian, Parmigianino, Louis Anquetin, David Shterenberg, and others.

The exhibition also highlights the vital role of conservation, which has led to major rediscoveries — from a 1910 still life by Martiros Sarian to an exceptionally rare religious painting by the Ottoman-Armenian artist Ohannes Kurkdjian.

These findings not only reshape Armenian art history and expand the Gallery's representation of world art, but also demonstrate the Gallery’s key function as a scientific institution and a guardian of universal cultural heritage.
