Lecture “Pablo Picasso and Armenian Art”

A lecture dedicated to the life and creative activity of Pablo Picasso “the greatest artist of recent hundred years” (“The Times” survey) will be held in GevorgGrigoryan (Giotto) Studio-Museum on April 20, 2016, at 14.00 p.m.

Picasso has created more than 20 000 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, ceramic and graphic works. Rubens has created 3000 artworks and Aivazovsky -6000 of them if compared with Picasso.
In 1915 in London the work “Algerian Woman” by Picasso was sold for 179.365.000 dollars.
Picasso was one of the greatest personalities of world culture. His art had influences on many world artists, even renowned painters, sculptors, writers and famous cinema and theatre figures. Martiros Sarian and Garzou have expressed their opinion about Picasso on various occasions. Yervand Kochar was in touch with him in Paris and often remembered about it.
Picasso was born in 1881 in Malaga, Spain and died in 1973 in France. In 1967 exhibition of Pablo Picasso’s works opened at the National Gallery of Armenia based on the collection of Ilya Ehrenburg (Picasso’s close friend).The foreword of the catalogue published on that occasion was written by Martiros Sarian.
During the lecture the well-known and unknown episodes of life and creativity of the great personality will comprehensively be presented.
